Expiration of Security Certificate Overview
Customers running OVD Enterprise 2.7.x or 2.8.x and Enterprise Desktop Client (EDC) v 2.8.2 or older for Windows devices are advised of the upcoming expiration of a security certificate related to Microsoft Windows. This issue may impact EDC end-users and installations that use the OVD Application Server for Windows.
The security certificate will expire on January 31, 2021.
Inuvika also announces maintenance release versions 2.7.3.1 and 2.8.2.1 for OVD Enterprise Application Server for Windows, as well as Inuvika EDC version 2.8.2.1 for Windows.
These updates address the security certificate issue.
Impact
Existing 2.7.x and 2.8.x installations may encounter security warnings, depending on the Windows security level settings used. Administrators attempting to install OVD Application Server for Windows versions 2.7.3 or 2.8.2 may also encounter warnings.
Similarly, end-users using the Inuvika EDC version 2.8.2 or older for Windows may also encounter security warnings.
Recommendations
For OVD Enterprise 2.7.x: Download and install the OVD Application Server for Windows 2.7.3.1 update from support.inuvika.com.
For OVD Enterprise 2.8.x: Download and install the OVD Application Server for Windows 2.8.2.1 update from support.inuvika.com.
Customers using WebDAV file sharing should also download the update for WebDAVfs from support.inuvika.com .
Note: Customers running a version of OVD Enterprise older than 2.7.0 will have to update to OVD Enterprise 2.8.2 in order to address the issue. Refer to the OVD 2.8.2 Release Notes for more information about updating your environment.
End-users and Administrators should download and install the new EDC 2.8.2.1 binaries from https://www.inuvika.com/support/#download
About the Inuvika EMC for iOS and Android Devices and EDC for macOS and Linux Devices
This issue does not impact the Inuvika EMC for iOS and Android devices. The most current versions are available for download from the App Store and Google Play Store.
This notice also does not impact the Inuvika EDC for macOS and Linux devices. The most current versions of the EDC for macOS and Linux remain at 2.8.2 until further notice. They are available for download at https://www.inuvika.com/support/#download
Current versions of the EDC are compatible with OVD Enterprise 2.8 and older.
