Inuvika Releases OVD Enterprise 3.5

Inuvika Announces the Release of OVD Enterprise 3.5 – Major performance, authentication, and client experience enhancements

Toronto, Canada – Inuvika today announced the release of OVD Enterprise 3.5, delivering significant improvements to performance, user experience, security, and day-to-day administration.

This release focuses on making OVD faster, more seamless for end users, and better aligned with modern identity, cloud, and endpoint platforms.

Seamless Local & Remote Application Access

OVD Enterprise 3.5 introduces Local App Access, allowing administrators to register file extensions so that files opened inside an OVD session can automatically launch in the matching application on the user’s local device.

This hybrid approach reduces latency, improves responsiveness for locally installed applications, and gives administrators precise control over what runs locally versus remotely.

Next-Generation RDP Performance

OVD has moved from FreeRDP 2.x to a heavily customised branch based on FreeRDP 3.x, providing a more modern RDP stack with measurable performance improvements, better protocol feature support, and a stronger foundation for future enhancements.

Passwordless SAML2 Authentication

OVD Enterprise 3.5 adds support for passwordless SAML2 single sign-on for Active Directory users. By trusting the Session Manager through a Certificate Authority, users can authenticate seamlessly without re-entering credentials, improving both security and user experience.

Enhanced Application Mode & Clipboard Experience

Application Mode has been refined across Windows, macOS, and Linux Enterprise Desktop Clients, delivering smoother window handling, improved keyboard passthrough, and more native application behavior.

Clipboard support has also been expanded to include rich text and file copy, making common workflows faster and more reliable.

Native Clients for Modern Platforms

The Enterprise Desktop Client for Windows is now 64-bit native, while the macOS client has been fully rewritten to run natively on Apple Silicon, improving performance, stability, and responsiveness across modern hardware.

Operational, Cloud & Security Improvements

Additional enhancements in OVD Enterprise 3.5 include improved Active Directory and LDAP reliability, expanded global administrator monitoring, logs displayed in the server’s local timezone, and a cloud-ready File Server design that avoids non-persistent storage paths commonly used in public cloud environments.

Security has also been strengthened with encrypted session credentials, enforced HTTPS redirection, and Windows service hardening.
